Again this year, you can build your own program. The convention will offer an option to register for any day or days you want to attend, or register for the entire four-day event. You attend the days you want to attend. Due to this format, it is important to wear your name badge to all CE sessions, social events and the exhibit hall. Your name badge contains the days you are attending plus all meals you have purchased.

This year’s convention welcomes Andy Roark, DVM for presentations at the General Session on Saturday morning and at other events throughout the day. Dr. Roark is a practicing veterinarian, international speaker, author, and media personality. He is the founder of the Uncharted Veterinary Conference and DrAndyRoark.com. He has been an award-winning columnist for DVM360 and his popular Facebook page, website, and YouTube show reach millions of people every month. Dr. Roark was voted the Practice Management Speaker of the Year at NAVC (one of the world’s largest veterinary conferences) three out of the last four years.

Thursday seminars include a variety of topics including beef cattle nutrition, cattle reproduction, interpreting lung patterns, interpreting abdomen radiographs, wound reconstruction, social media branding 101, dealing with negatives & encouraging positives, new opportunities for veterinary social media, keeping veterinarians alive & thriving: herd health for veterinarians, vaccinating your practice: preventative wellness for your team and pocket pets. There’s also the Missouri Stocker/Feeder Quality Assurance Training and the MVMA Academy Mini-Topics Seminar packed with short, informative presentations on a variety of subjects.

Win or lose, you don’t want to miss the fun and excitement at Friday’s Foundation Reception, Drawing and Silent Auction. Admission is free but small donations are accepted to help defray costs. Hors d’oeuvres will be served. Be sure to purchase your ticket for a chance to win $10,000, and many other cash prizes. Drawing tickets are $100 and can be purchased through the registration form. Share this link with your friends. You need not be present to win. The drawings will take place during the Reception. Support your Foundation by purchasing a ticket and/ or donating an item for the Silent Auction. The early bird drawing is December 15th.

Again this year! The convention’s entire CE program is open to veterinary technicians, practice staff, and technician students. Also, plan to attend Saturday’s Missouri Veterinary Technician Association’s Reception held prior to the MVMA Banquet.

Veterinary students should plan to attend the “Student Welcome Reception” on Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. to help you navigate through the convention and make the most out of the event. On Saturday afternoon, we’re having a Forum for Recent Graduates (up to 10 years out) & Current Veterinary Students. Be enlightened as recent grads discuss topics to help you make the transition from student-doctor to doctor. Dr. Andy Roark will be making a special presentation to the group entitled “Built to Last, Thriving for the Long Term”. Don’t miss this opportunity to get some real life advice and share it as well.

Attendees are encouraged to sign up on the registration form to be part of Friday’s VBMA Speed Networking where practicing vets and university students get acquainted in this practical, painless round-robin, networking event. Because many fourth-year students already have post-graduation employment commitments, the event is geared to first, second and third year students seeking mentorship, preceptorships, and contacts for future post-graduation employment.

On Sunday of the MVMA Convention, a career fair will be held to connect job seekers with clinics looking for new associates. The event is free for all job seekers. The event is also free for all MVMA member clinics. For other clinics, a $100 fee is charged.

The Career Fair will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday during the MVMA Convention at the Holiday Inn Executive Center in Columbia, MO. Attendees of the fair are encouraged to bring any materials that will help them in their networking efforts.

Job seekers need not register. Clinics who would like to ensure they have a table with a small sign identifying their clinic, as well as a few chairs, should register for the event on the online convention registration form or by using this linkhttps://movma.site-ym.com/page/careerfair to complete a very short online form. Though convention registration is not required, the one day convention registration is recommended in order to take part in CE in the morning prior to the Career Fair.
