Karen Campbell obtained her B.S. in Animal Sciences and her DVM from the University of Missouri (summa cum laude). She worked the summer following graduation in Asheville, North Carolina, and then completed a rotating internship in Small Animal Surgery and Medicine at Auburn University followed by a residency in Small Animal Medicine and a Master of Science in Veterinary Clinical Pathology from the University of Georgia. Karen then joined the faculty at the University of Illinois where she also completed a residency in veterinary dermatology. She was the first individual to be board-certified by examination by both the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and the American College of Veterinary Dermatology. She is a past-president of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology and is currently chair of the AVMA American Board of Veterinary Specialists. She has authored or co-authored over 80 peer-reviewed journal articles, 47 book chapters and six books including the 7th edition of Mueller and Kirk’s Small Animal Dermatology. Karen received the 2013 Award of Excellence from the American College of Veterinary Dermatology and the 2014 Alumna of the Year Award from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. She taught veterinary dermatology at the University of Illinois for 32 years. In 2016, she moved from Illinois to Franklin County and started working at the University of Missouri’s Veterinary Health Center in Wentzville.

Feline Dermatology (2 hours)
Lecture Objectives or Summary: This lecture will focus on the diagnosis and treatment of skin and ear disorders in cats with an emphasis on newer treatment options.
