Goals and Objectives of the Academy

The MVMA Academy, through its programs, encourages Missouri’s veterinarians to stay up to date with science, technology, medical practices, practice management, and personal develepment for the betterment of the veterinary profession and the consuming public.

The Academy, through its programs and through membership promotion and growth, sets the high standard for continuing education consistent with the ideals of the profession. Academy members provide a role model, completing 40 or more hours of continuing education per year. An introductory level of 30 hours is also available. The Academy provides a vehicle through which this accomplishment can be recognized by the consuming public, and acknowledged and emulated by colleagues.

The Academy also supports local district continuing education through support of a speakers bureau. Promoting high quality continuing education on the district level is important for the practitioner, for the district, for the MVMA as well as for the furtherance of the goals of the Academy.  Its leadership also assists in content development for the MVMA convention and the MVMA online webinar series.

The MVMA Academy also speaks to the issue of continuing education standards through advisement to the MVMA Board in relating to the Missouri Veterinary Medical Board (state licensing board).
